West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd could return for the Premier League clash against Wolves on 6 April, with Alphonse Areola still ruled out, according to Ben Dinnery.

The injury expert has reported on his Premier Injuries website that the Moroccan international has a 50% chance of playing at Molineux.

Areola is still ruled out with a groin injury that he picked up during the 4-3 defeat against Newcastle at St James' Park recently, with Lukasz Fabianski expected to continue.

West Ham United injury news from London Stadium

Typically robust, compact and defensively sound under Moyes' tenure, West Ham have been anything but that so far in 2024, not keeping a clean sheet since a 0-0 draw with Brighton in their first game of the calendar year and winning just two Premier League matches since.

Players like Aguerd and Edson Alvarez (left) will be crucial if West Ham are to finish the season strongly.

Aguerd, who hasn't featured since picking up his injury on international duty for Morocco, and Areola, who went off at half-time of the Hammers' 4-3 loss at Newcastle, will be big losses for the upcoming match at Wolves if neither is passed fit to play.

As shown by their second-half collapse at St. James' Park, going from 3-1 up to 4-3 down in just 13 minutes, West Ham need to re-focus their defensive unit ahead of their domestic and European run-ins, and the potential of an early return for Aguerd will undoubtedly calm the waters in east London.

Things looked much better against Spurs, let's hope that continues.
