West Ham United team news v Chelsea as David Moyes shares new Nayef Aguerd injury update
West Ham United manager David Moyes has confirmed that the Hammers will be without Nayef Aguerd for their clash with Chelsea.
The Irons make the trip across London to Stamford Bridge on Sunday (5 May) as they look to end a five-match winless run in all competitions and boost their slim hopes of finishing in the European places this season.
While the Hammers will have to make do without Aguerd who hasn’t featured since the Europa League clash with Bayer Leverkusen, Moyes could be boosted by the return of Konstantinos Mavropanos.
Speaking in a press conference on Friday (3 May) he said: “On the two centre-backs, Dinos is making some progress and Aguerd isn’t available.
“Regarding others, I don’t think we’re too bad at the moment, I think we’re OK.”
Will Konstantinos Mavropanos return for West Ham United and David Moyes v Chelsea?
The season appears to be quite quickly petering out for the Hammers as recent results have left Moyes’ side with very little to play for. Most of the talk around the London Stadium has been dominated by the Scotsman’s future.
However, there are still three games to be played in the league and although the chances are thin, the Irons could still potentially finish in the top six if other results go their way. All hope isn’t yet lost.

Few fans would have expected to see Aguerd feature against the Blues, but it could be a major boost to West Ham’s hopes of getting a result that Mavropanos is back. The Greek International hasn’t been perfect, but he has shown in flashes what he is capable of.
Hopefully, he won’t suffer any setbacks in his recovery and will be able to return to the fold at the Bridge on Sunday. A win over Pochettinho’s side would give Moyes the perfect platform to bow out of the London Stadium on a high.
