West Ham United target Ross Barkley could leave on loan or permanently

West Ham are “sniffing” around Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley who is almost certain to leave the club before the transfer deadline, as per 90 Min.

Everton want a reunion with their former midfielder while Scottish champions Celtic are also keen to land him.

Ideally, Chelsea would sanction a permanent exit, but a loan move away from the London club cannot be ruled out either.

Best chance

Barkley doesn’t excite the fan base, but he is someone who has previously worked under David Moyes. The Hammers’ boss probably will feel that he can still get the best out of him.

The 28-year-old has struggled at Chelsea, and failed to make an impact under Thomas Tuchel. On top of that, he has injury issues. He has become surplus to requirements at the club, and thus a move away from Stamford Bridge is highly likely.

The fact that Chelsea could allow him on loan should encourage West Ham. It means Barkley could be a risk-free business. If he turns out to be a hit, then it could prove to be a masterstroke signing. But if he flops once again, he’ll return to his former club.

West Ham do have an advantage here. Everton cannot sign any player on loan, having added Conor Coady and Ruben Vinagre on temporary deals. Barkley would love to stay in the Premier League, which means the Hammers have a good chance of signing him.
