West Ham United: talkSPORT pundit shares new David Moyes sack view live on air, ‘Be more ambitious’

Rory Jennings believes questions should be asked about whether West Ham should be more ambitious about their managerial position after doubts have been raised about David Moyes.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Friday (19 January), the pundit said the Hammers are doing “really well” and credit must go to all those associated with the club, but he asked whether they “could do better” than the Scotsman.

Host Ade Oladipo responded by saying that the Irons boss would argue that he just won a trophy and his side are currently in a European spot in the Premier League table.

“I think they are doing really well West Ham,” said Jennings. “You have to give a lot of credit to the board, to David Moyes, to the players, but I do believe that the question could they do better, could they be more ambitious with their manager isn’t a question that shouldn’t be asked.

“David Moyes will say ‘one second, I won a trophy and we’re, right now, in a European spot again’,” said Oladipo.

Controversial

This is a hugely controversial topic and one that doesn’t seem to be going away despite West Ham currently being on course for another successful season.

That’s because the performances haven’t always been entirely convincing and the recent cup defeats to Liverpool and Bristol City were majorly disappointing.

But overall, you absolutely can’t argue with Moyes’s record with the Hammers after he’s delivered European football in every full season he’s been in charge.

The current league position would deliver another European campaign and there’s a chance that we could go far in the Europa League.

It’s hard to really argue that the Scotsman doesn’t deserve the chance to continue in his role because the turnaround in fortunes since he took over at the London Stadium speaks for itself.
