West Ham United table Sunday afternoon bid to sign Terem Moffi, £20m plus add-ons offered - Sky Sports

West Ham United have tabled a Sunday afternoon bid to sign Lorient striker Terem Moffi, according to Sky Sports journalist Ed Draper.

The Hammers have been short of ideas in the Premier League so far this season and Moffi may be the key towards them turning their fortunes around.

Draper reported that West Ham United had offered £20m plus £5m in add-ons bid to Lorient, but didn’t confirm the French club’s stance on the offer.

“BREAKING: West Ham have made a bid of £20m plus £5m in add-ons for Lorient striker Terem Moffi,” announced Sky Sports on Twitter.

Moffi scored for Lorient on Saturday in their 3-1 defeat to Marseille and is the second top-scorer in Ligue 1 this season, sitting only behind Kylian Mbappe.

The Hammers need an in-form forward who is brimming with confidence and Moffi fits the bill for the kind of signing to change the tide of David Moyes’ side.

It was initially thought that the 23-year-old was out of the Irons price after The Daily Mail (13 January, page 72) reported so.

Nevertheless, it looks like Moyes and co are hedging their bets in this one in a cheeky bid to lure Moffi away from France and to the glitz and glamour of London.

With Michail Antonio’s future up in the air and Gianluca Scamacca way off it in recent outings, West Ham United could do with some more options up top.

The powerful and pacey Nigerian could add some much-needed spark and flair to the Irons attacking setup and this could prove to be an extremely shrewd bit of business from West Ham.

Whether he’s the answer to solve the club’s potential relegation conundrum remains to be seen, but the team need all the help they can get right now.
