West Ham United table bid to sign Lille midfielder Amadou Onana – Dharmesh Sheth

West Ham United have tabled a £19.8million offer to sign Lille midfielder Amadou Onana, according to Dharmesh Sheth late on Sunday evening (03 June).

The Sky Sports journalist has reported that the offer was instantly batted away by the French club, who are currently reluctant to sell.

Despite that, the Irons remain interested in Onana, and are considering whether or not to make another improved offer for the Belgian star.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Sheth shared the latest behind the potential bid and what is expected to come after it was waved away.

“West Ham United have made a €23m [£19.8m] offer for Lille midfielder Amadou Onana,” he wrote.

“Been told the bid has been rejected with Lille reluctant to sell. West Ham remain interested and are deciding whether to return with an improved offer.”

Box-Office.

Rob Newman is known to very much like to French market for new signings, so it is no surprise to see him shopping there once again this summer.

Onana is very menacing in the middle of the park, standing at 6’5″ and now a fully-fledged Belgian international, it is very easy to see the attraction.

That is exactly the type of player David Moyes loves to have in his side, with shades of Tomas Soucek as well as Marouane Fellaini in Onana and how he plays.

Another midfielder is a desperate priority.

Declan Rice and Soucek are our main two options, and only options at this stage, with Mark Noble now in retirement and Alex Kral returning to Spartak Moscow.

It is clear that a new face is needed in there for competition and depth, but with a new bid still being considered, it is uncertain whether or not that new West Ham United man will be Onana.
