West Ham United table bid to sign Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria

West Ham have reportedly made their first offer to Juventus to secure the services of former Chelsea loanee Denis Zakaria.

According to Calciomercato [6 July], a loan offer with an obligation to buy for £15.3million has been submitted to the Turin club.

The Switzerland international wants to move to the London Stadium but there’s still work to be done on the fee.

Obligation is tricky

West Ham may be getting stuck by putting in an obligation rather than just an option to buy him.

There are no guarantees that he’ll be a success in the Premier League, especially looking at what happened when he joined Chelsea.

He failed to make a mark there and they did not even consider signing him on a permanent basis.

While the players at West Ham aren’t as good as Chelsea, they would want to sign a player who performs well regardless of the opposition or his teammates.

One did not get that kind of feeling from Zakaria so this is certainly a risky acquisition and even if it was a buy option and not an obligation, it would’ve been better.

It remains to be seen what Juventus’ counter proposal is as it does not seem like they will be accepting this one.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are already preparing to cash in on the Declan Rice money as they hold a transfer meeting in London as they’re confident of sealing a £50million signing.
