West Ham United supporters face travel nightmare for Europa League clash v Freiburg

West Ham United supporters looking to make the trip to Freiburg for their Europa League clash are facing a travel nightmare, according to The Evening Standard.

The newspaper reported on its website on Tuesday (5 March) that train and airport strikes in Germany are likely to make the clash chaotic for any supporters hoping to follow David Moyes’ side in the European tie.

Planned industrial action has already seen a number of flights to Germany cancelled ahead of Thursday (7 March) night’s tie and the German train driver’s union has confirmed that they will stage a new strike on the day of the game.

West Ham fans were unable to make the trip to Germany to watch Moyes’ side in the group stages after a ban was placed on away supporters following crowd trouble in the Irons Europa Conference League win.

When do West Ham United play Freiburg in the Europa League?

It seems as though Hammers supporters are destined not to see Moyes’ side in action in the Black Forest this season with so many issues appearing to prevent fans from making the trip to Germany.

For most supporters, some of their best moments in recent seasons will have involved following the Hammers throughout their recent European campaigns, whether that be wins over Lyon or last season’s electric final in Prague.

Some would argue that those moments have kept Moyes in charge at the London Stadium as pressure has grown on the Scotsman following the Irons’ recent poor run of form and it will be a shame if fans can’t back their side in Europe once again.

Hopefully, most supporters who were planning to make the trip to Germany will be able to get there without the chaos causing them too many issues, but the most important thing will be that the Irons get the job done on the pitch.
