According to Own Goal Nigeria, West Ham United are no longer interested in signing Genk striker Paul Onuachu this summer.

The Hammers were in advanced talks with the agent of the 27-year-old, and were favourites to land him prior to withdrawing their interest.

Genk have refused to lower their demands, insisting suitors have to pay £22million for Onuachu, and that has made West Ham decide to end talks.

We asked our esteemed panel of West Ham Super Fans over on Facebook what they think about the decision of the club, and here are some of their responses:

The club are not willing to spend that much on an unknown striker despite the fact that he scored 35 goals last season.

We are not entirely surprised with the reports given how the GSB board do approach things.

The Hammers are yet to land a new player with the new Premier League season starting in a week, and we definitely could do with new owners.

PAI Capital have been linked with a takeover in recent days, but the board are not open to selling the club and are likely to keep frustrating any buyer for now.

With just three weeks left in the transfer window, we ought to already have a new striker in by now.

Onuachu is keen on a move, but Genk wants any buyer to meet their valuation of the Nigerian.

£22million is a fair fee for a proven goalscorer entering into the peak years of his career, but the club clearly have other ideas.

Manager David Moyes could be frustrated with how slow things have been so far for us in the transfer window, and GSB have to look at how other clubs with ambitions have conducted their businesses this summer.

In other West Ham news, Hammers chances of landing £30m-rated int’l rated in major Monday update.
