West Ham United submit offer to hire Maurizio Sarri as new manager to replace David Moyes
Maurizio Sarri has been sounded out as a potential replacement for David Moyes at West Ham United as he looks to return to England, according to Il Messaggero.
The Italian newspaper reported to its website on Friday (19 April) that the former Chelsea boss is “evaluating offers” from the Hammers and also Newcastle.
He has rejected an offer from Sevilla and was approached by Nottingham Forest before Nuno Espirito Santo became their manager.
Sarri is regretful about his time with Chelsea and wants to return to England. His new agent Frank Trimboli has “proposed” a move to the London Stadium.
The Hammers will require a new coach should David Moyes depart at the end of the season.
Would Maurizio Sarri be a good fit for West Ham?
The complaint with Moyes has been with his style of football which despite being effective, has frustrated fans at times.
Given that the Hammers won the Conference League last season, it was fair that the Scot stayed in his role for the current season. He has guided them to a Europa League quarter-final and sit in eighth place in the Premier League.
Should he leave in the summer, Sarri could provide fans with the entertaining style of football they are looking for.

He departed from Lazio in March 2024 [BBC] after being knocked out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich.
Sarri prefers a 4-3-3 formation and is reliant on his goalkeeper being positive and confident with the ball at his feet. This is also necessary for his centre-backs who can carry the ball out and be progressive.
The wingers in his set-up come inside to help defend and get high and wide in the attacking phases of play.
His system also revolves around pressing high up the pitch, winning the ball and taking advantage of opposition defences being out of position.
This all points towards Sarri being an ideal option for fans who want a manager with an exciting brand of football. His redemption arc after his spell at Chelsea could spur him to succeed with the Hammers.
