West Ham United submit offer for Salernitana striker Boulaye Dia

West Ham have reportedly submitted an “offer” to sign Everton and Borussia Dortmund target Boulaye Dia who plies his trade at Salernitana.

According to Tutto Salernitana [28 November], the Seria A club have a right to purchase him permanently from Valencia and are expected to do that this season with him moving permanently in 2023.

A fee in the region of £17.3million is what they’re expecting in order to part ways with the 26-year-old striker who’s currently at the World Cup playing for Senegal.

West Ham

Right move?

We do not see why West Ham would want to sign another striker when they have other pressing issues to deal with in the squad.

Dia is a decent striker who does have six goals and two assists this season, but he’s not what the club needs right now.

David Moyes is clearly under pressure for not getting the best out of his current players and if he’s handed additional funds in January, a central striker will probably be one of his last priorities.

He could look for a right-back, another midfielder to play in place of Tomas Soucek or even a wide forward who can offer some kind of end product.

We do not see the owners shelling out that kind of money for another striker so Dia is unlikely to be coming to the London Stadium any time soon.

It remains to be seen what the club does about Declan Rice too as he’s a man in demand currently and if he does end up leaving, it’ll be a huge hole to fill.

It’s understood that he is keen on leaving the Hammers next year and while it gives the club a lot of money, it sets their rebuilding process many steps behind.
