West Ham United struggle to sell tickets for AEK Larnaca clash despite low prices – Claret and Hugh
West Ham United are struggling to sell tickets for their upcoming European Conference League encounter against AEK Larnaca and expect an attendance of around 40,000, according to Claret and Hugh.
The Hammers won their first leg of the last-16 encounter 2-0 and will face off again at the London Stadium on Thursday, 16 March.
Although the club sold out its home stadium many times during the Europe League last season, the lack of interest in the upcoming tie has seen tickets sold as low as £15 in some cases.

At the moment, the club’s ticket sales have only just reached over half of the London Stadium’s capacity.
Claret and Hugh wrote: “A Hammers source revealed told CandH exclusively that 36,000 had been sold so far and that the club was expecting an attendance of around 40,000.”

Oh dear
Although the Hammers look destined to reach the last eight of the European Conference League, fans still seem to be serving the opportunity to see their team in a mid-week encounter.
This could potentially be a sign that fans have finally had enough of David Moyes’ negative tactics, with the club currently crawling their way through the Premier League season.
What was telling after the 1-1 draw against Aston Villa on Sunday (12 March) was the reaction of Lucas Paqueta after he was subbed off the pitch in the 79th minute. Moyes opted to bring on Pablo Fornals in the Brazilian playmaker’s place, and instead of watching the rest of the match from the bench, he walked straight down the tunnel and didn’t reappear.
This was the first sign of any player showing visible frustration at Moyes. When considering this, as well as the struggle to sell tickets for the upcoming European clash, it highlights that the Scottish manager’s role in the West Ham United dugout is still severely under threat.
