West Ham United striker update as contact made to sign PSG ace Hugo Ekitike and Sevilla forward Youssef En-Nesyri

West Ham are now looking to sign two strikers with PSG’s Hugo Ekitike and Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri on their radar, according to Foot Mercato.

The French media outlet reported on Tuesday (22 August) that positive meetings had been held between PSG and the Hammers over Ekitike.

They’ve also touched base with the representatives of En-Nesyri as they want to play a two-striker system this season.

Back three incoming?

Playing a 4-4-2 in today’s day and age is not feasible and most teams opt for three-man midfields to gain control of the game.

Both En-Nesyri and Ekitike are mobile enough to work as a pair up front and there’s a good chance of a back-three being deployed.

Jarrod Bowen can play as the 10 with Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse playing behind him while Vladimir Coufal and Emerson being the wing-backs.

Alternatively, Moyes can play a one-striker system and see if Eiktike can play as an inside forward on the left flank as that can be an option as well.

It remains to be seen if West Ham are successful in getting both players over the line as thus far, they’ve been extremely incompetent with their transfer activity.

Hopefully, things speed up in the coming days as not long is left before transfer deadline day and they’re no closer to signing a striker.

In other West Ham news, the club have now opened advanced talks with a Premier League player who appears to be open on leaving his side this summer.
