West Ham United star Gianluca Scamacca ditched by agency as trust gone - Fabrizio Romano
Gianluca Scamacca has been ditched by the World Soccer Agency as his agents, after they released a statement saying there was no longer trust with the West Ham star.
The Italian striker joined the Hammers in the summer with the WSA as his agents brokering the deal, and he has become a fan favourite despite an injury-hit campaign restricting him to just 11 Premier League starts this season.
But that partnership has now been brought to an end against Scamacca’s wishes, as Fabrizio Romano shared (28 February) a statement released by the agency where thy claim “there was no longer trust”.
“World Soccer Agency formally ends its working relationship with Gianluca Scamacca,” they said in a statement.
“Although the player expressed a desire to continue working together there was no longer the trust necessary for a healthy professional relationship.
“We thank the player for his time spend with WSA, and wish him all the best for his future.”
Interesting
Scamacca has been linked with a move to the likes of Atletico Madrid in recent months despite only joining West Ham last summer, but clearly that wasn’t the doing of his agents.
To say there is no trust in the relationship anymore suggests that the player was doing something that they weren’t happy about, and they’ve moved to separate themselves.
That could work out well for West Ham if the intention is to keep hold of him into next season and beyond, because he is incredibly talented and the WSA are very good at being able to get deals done.
It will obviously be very interesting to keep an eye on this situation to find out what actually went on. But for now the hope is that Scamacca can get back into focus and get back to scoring goals on the pitch.
We signed him to do that and fire us up the table and so far he hasn’t done so, while showing glimpses of quality. Now it’s time for him to deliver.
