West Ham United star Declan Rice fires back at Sky Sports on Twitter

Declan Rice has hit out at Sky Sports on Twitter after they claimed the West Ham United star hit out at the condensed fixture scheduling.

The UK’s number one sports broadcaster tweeted a video of the England international speaking about the humungous amount of football he’s played in the past 12 months in a press conference.

They captioned the clip by saying: “West Ham captain Declan Rice has hit out at the busy football schedule,” but the 23-year-old did not take kindly to that suggestion.

He quickly jumped onto the social media platform himself to say: “Wasn’t hitting out at all, actually expressed how much I love playing in every game & want to play every game if you watch the full press conference.”

Rice is in the West Ham squad to face Anderlecht on Thursday evening in the Europa Conference League and is expected to play as David Moyes hopes to secure qualification to the knockout rounds.

Back off

Sky Sports have been a blessing to the landscape of football in the UK but they also cause a lot of damage in certain scenarios and this is one of those.

The amount of football being played is a lot with the increase in international fixtures thanks to the useless Nations League that UEFA have introduced but Rice doesn’t mind it at all.

West Ham

Sky were only interested here in getting quick clicks and interaction on a media post and it did work but only to get them bombarded with criticism themselves from Rice and other supporters.

Let’s not forget that the only reason fixture scheduling is all over the place is because Sky choose to move so many fixtures for their TV cameras when the Premier League could easily function with 3pm kick-offs on the regular.

If Rice wants to play 365 games in a year then he is more than welcome to because he would be the best player on the pitch 95 per cent of the time.
