Lopetegui has been under pressure at the East London club after a poor start to the season and the hierarchy are looking at potential replacements for the Spaniard [Daily Mail, 5 December].

David Moyes return not a good look for West Ham United

There's a reason the Hammers parted ways with Moyes in the summer and replaced him with Lopetegui.

The Scottish head coach wasn't popular among the London Stadium faithful towards the end, who wanted to see their team play more progressive football.

While the 61-year-old was instrumental in ending the Irons' 43-year wait for a trophy, winning the Europa Conference League in 2023, the fans wanted to see something different.

Sullivan decided to give Lopetegui the reins at West Ham, but that decision has backfired, with the Hammers sitting 14th in the Premier League table.

The Spanish head coach was given the tools in the summer to compete for a European berth again but has failed, with fans wanting him out after the Leicester defeat.

Some of the London Stadium faithful are rightfully reminiscing their good times under Moyes, but the Scotsman's return would be an embarrassment for Sullivan and other board members.

While the rumours surrounding the 61-year-old have been quashed, Lopetegui still isn't the right man for the job, and the East London club need to appoint a modern, attack-minded manager.
