West Ham United source shares brand new Julen Lopetegui sack claim

David Sullivan and Tim Steidten will not be meeting during the international break to discuss the future of Julen Lopetegui, according to West Ham Football.

The news outlet reported on 10 November that a source had denied the report from The Times who claimed that the Spaniard’s sack is being discussed.

After the 0-0 draw against Everton on 9 November, the Hammers find themselves in 14th place with 12 points from 11 games.

Via X, the reliable outlet wrote: “A report suggesting that David Sullivan and Tim Steidten will meet in person over the International break to discuss the future of the head coach has been denied by a club source saying ‘There is no truth in the story’.”

West Ham reflect their standards by not discussing Julen Lopetegui’s future

Not discussing Lopetegui’s future amidst their current mid-table standing speaks volumes about the club standards.

It indicates a lack of strategic foresight or urgency in addressing the team’s performance, especially after significant financial investment in the squad during the summer transfer window.

This investment was presumably made with expectations of improved results, which have not been convincingly met with the team languishing in 14th place.

Such a scenario could reflect poorly on the club’s ambition and ability to critically assess where things are going wrong.

Not discussing Lopetegui’s future might also imply a disconnect between the club’s expectations and what the fans would want from David Moyes’ successor.

Things just seem to be a mess currently and there needs to be clear accountability over it.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers want to sell an international player in January and have already identified a replacement for him.
