West Ham United: Sonny Perkins will stay for at least 12 months
Teenage striker Sonny Perkins is set to stay at West Ham United for another 12 months despite rumoured transfer interest, according to Claret and Hugh.
The 18-year-old enjoyed a sensational season for the Under-23s in 2021-22 with 10 goals to his name and that has attracted the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds United and Aston Villa [The Guardian].
But talks between Perkins’ agent and the club have been going on for weeks now and while there has been no agreement reached, he is expected to remain a West Ham player for the next 12 months at least.

“He’s with us for another year,” a source at the London Stadium told Claret and Hugh. “The agent wants silly money to extend his contract for a player who has yet to play a first-team game.”
The Hammers are still keen on extending his stay at Rush Green however but they won’t cave to his agent’s high demands.
Patience
There might only be 12 months left on his current contract but there is still no rush for us to pay over the odds for a player with only three senior appearances to his name.
Villa, Leeds and Spurs will all find out the same ridiculous demands his agent is suggesting and it would not be a surprise to see them all turn it down and leave him in limbo if he doesn’t re-sign with us.

But the player himself needs to stop hiding behind the agent and take some initiative himself because that is ultimately what managers are looking for in a professional player.
They can get by only doing what they are told but if they want to go on and really make a career for themselves, no matter how talented they might be and the number of goals they score in the youth setup.
The choice is his now and we will son know how he wants his career to pan out.
In other West Ham news, we could now have a free run at signing Alphonse Areola permanently as this Premier League club have found a free alternative.
