West Ham United set to seal Lucas Paqueta signing with documents exchanged
West Ham United are very close to completing the signing of Lucas Paqueta with documents exchanged for the Brazilian, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 24-year-old is already in London having arrived last night and he is due to undergo the first part of his medical with the Hammers in the next few hours.
He will not be signed in time to feature for the Irons against Aston Villa in the Midlands as David Moyes’ side look to pick up their first points of the 2022-23 season.
“Lucas Paquetá is in London together with his agents, arrived on Saturday night,” Romano said via his personal Twitter account. “First part of medical as new West Ham player will take place in the next hours, full agreement and documents exchanged with OL.
“Plan confirmed – now waiting for contracts to be signed.”
Troublesome trio
West Ham can now field a midfield trio of Paqueta ahead of Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek which is capable of rivalling some of the best midfield in the country and perhaps the world.
The two already at the London Stadium have developed a sturdy base in front of the back four but they have seen an inconsistent number 10 in front of them for many years.

Manuel Lanzini, Pablo Fornals and Said Benrahma have all had the chance to shine in behind the central striker but none have captured the imagination of their teammates or the supporters.
Moyes has had enough of waiting for them now and has moved to make a club-record purchase and solve his side’s problems once and for all, at least that is what he hopes will happen.
It would make for the perfect weekend if his current crop of players could find a way to win away at Villa Park before Paqueta is unveiled later and the Bank Holiday weekend party can begin.
