West Ham United set to make improved Harry Maguire offer after £20m bid rejected – Sky Sports

West Ham are set to make an improved offer for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, according to Sky Sports.

The publication reported on its website on Monday (7 August) that the Red Devils will only consider offers of “fair market value” for the centre-back.

The Manchester outfit have already rejected a £20million bid for Maguire from the East London side, Sky Sports added.

“West Ham United are expected to go back in with an improved offer for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire,” according to Sky Sports.

“They had a bid worth £20m rejected last month and at the time were not going to pursue a deal. United are not pushing Maguire out and will only begin to consider offers that are of fair market value.”

Time running out

Time is running out for West Ham in their pursuit of Maguire, who will seemingly only be allowed to leave Old Trafford if a huge offer comes in.

His massive £80million move from Leicester City back in 2019 is perhaps the reason why Manchester United want such a big offer, with the Red Devils keen not to make a huge loss on the defender.

Moreover, they will be fully aware that West Ham have plenty of money in the bank following the £105million sale of Declan Rice.

Even though England teammates Maguire and Rice are at very different stages of their careers, the current situation has resulted in the Hammers being at a major disadvantage as they look to bring the former to the London Stadium.

Manchester United hold all the cards, meaning Maguire will very much still be a Red Devils man when the summer transfer window is brought to an end.
