West Ham United set Nikola Vlasic asking price with Torino in pursuit

West Ham United have set their stall out in a bid to sell Croatian attacker Nikola Vlasic this summer, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Hammers only signed the 24-year-old last summer for a fee of £25million (plus add-ons) but a dismal season at the London Stadium has seen him back on the market for another move.

Serie A side Torino are the club with the keenest interest in the Croatian international with West Ham putting a minimum asking price of £17million on him if he’s to leave in this transfer window.

While that would represent an £8million loss for the Irons, there are still complications in the deal on the Italian’s side with the Serie A not operating at a similar level to the Premier League in terms of transfer fees.

The majority of Vlasic’s appearances in claret and blue last season came off the bench and, as a result, he only scored once in 19 Premier League games.

Keep him

He might not have adjusted to the way of life in England as quickly as we had hoped but that is no reason to completely abandon our plans for him at the earliest opportunity.

Vlasic has proven on both the club and international stage that he has an ability unique to him and it only takes a good run of games and some faith from the manager to unlock that.

Selling him now, especially for a loss, would be a total waste of time and resources and we should instead be trying to find that magic combination that sees him release the shackles and become the star.

There is talk of a new left-winger being high on David Moyes’ agenda this summer but if he puts his belief in Vlasic then he can focus all that cash elsewhere and get ourselves a properly top-drawer striker or even a new central midfielder to rival Tomas Soucek.
