West Ham United sent top staff on mission for potential signing of £20m-rated Habib Diarra

West Ham United have sent “top people” to watch Strasbourg’s French midfielder Habib Diarra, according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon.

It’s believed Wolves, Aston Villa, Leeds and Leicester are all keen on the 19-year-old, who is set on a “major” move to England.

Nixon claims, (via his Patreon, 21 May) that a staggering nine clubs watched the attacking midfielder last weekend and that the Ligue 1 side value him at £20million.

Tottenham, Manchester United and Manchester City are also taking a look at the Senegalese-born star. It’s believed Strasbourg are willing to let him depart if the price is right.

Needed

More is certainly required when it comes to the Hammers’ attacking midfield options. The likes of Pablo Fornals and Manuel Lanzini have been brilliant servants during their time at the London Stadium, but both players are now entering the latter stages of their careers and could move on this summer.

With Declan Rice now likely to move on in the off-season, there could well be money to spend for West Ham during the summer window. The board were extremely ambitious last year and it will be intriguing to see if they back David Moyes in the same way this year.

The Scot now looks set to remain at the London Stadium, irrespective of West Ham’s European outcome. It would be extremely harsh for the board to sack Moyes after guiding the club to a final and securing the Irons’ league status.

More will be expected next season, however, after Moyes’ prior success, he will fancy his chances of turning West Ham’s fortunes around.
