West Ham United send scouts to watch pair of long-term targets Noah Okafor and Junior Adamu on Sunday

West Ham had scouts at Red Bull Salzburg’s win over Rapid Wien on Sunday with long-term targets Noah Okafor and Junior Adamu in action, 90min reports.

Tutto Mercato Web reported on 15 November that the Hammers were after Swiss forward Okafor following strong performances in the Champions League and the World Cup, with Chelsea and Arsenal also interested in the €35million-rated [£31million] attacker.

And during the summer window Sky Sports Austria (6 June) reported interest from the London Stadium, among a host of others, in Austrian international forward Adamu who was available at the time for €10million [£8.9million].

The pair have been in good form during the campaign with Red Bull now nine-points clear at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga after the 4-2 win on Sunday (5 March).

The duo have each scored seven league goals so far this season, and were also watched in person by the likes of Leeds United, Wolves, Leicester and Tottenham, as well as Manchester United and Inter, at the weekend, with a number of players on show being looked at.

Serious?

Michail Antonio almost left West Ham in the January window and seems likely to be off in the summer after shouldering the load up front alone for so long.

Gianluca Scamacca was supposed to answered all the concerns over the striking position when he made his £35.5million move from Sassuolo in the summer.

But his future at the club has been called into question after injury and a lack of goalscoring form in the Premier League, with Calcio Mercato reporting on 28 February that he now believes an exit after one season would be best for his career.

West Ham

Danny Ings’ January arrival has picked up some of the slack from the uncertain picture up front, as he scored twice in the 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest on 25 February.

But he has also been out with injury and couldn’t get anything going in the dreadful defeat at Brighton on Saturday (4 March).

So there is every chance that, assuming David Moyes or any possible replacement, keeps the Hammers in the top flight this season there will again be money spent on at least one forward in the summer, and the Red Bull pair look like serious candidates if scouts were once again watching this weekend.
