West Ham see £13million offer rejected for five-cap international – Sky Sports

West Ham United have seen an offer rejected by Club Brugge for their midfielder Hans Vanaken, according to Sky Sports.

It is suggested on their live transfer blog that the Irons had offered £13million for the five-cap Belgian international recently.

Brugge are demanding a higher fee for the 28-year-old, who is classed as one of their most important players in the heart of their side.

Vanaken scored 15 times in 35 appearances last season and would add a goalscoring threat from midfield for David Moyes.

The 28-year-old would likely be seen as an option in midfield who can take Mark Noble’s place in front of Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek if the move goes through.

Noble has suffered from injuries already this season and isn’t a regular feature in the side at the London Stadium despite having the captain’s armband.

West Ham will need to increase their bid and quick if they’re serious in this move, with less than a week remaining in the window.

Vanaken may not be immediately arriving at the London Stadium, but there will be one new signing before this weekend.

The Irons have agreed a £5million deal for Slavia Prague defender Vladimir Coufal, who will act as competition for Ryan Fredericks.

Coufal is set to sign a three-year deal in east London after completing his medical on Thursday evening in the capital.

With the defender in, it appears that Moyes has switched his attention to further strengthening his midfield.
