West Ham United secure multi-million windfall after development in last 48 hours

West Ham United will reap the rewards of reaching the Europa League knockout stages after they triumphed over Freiburg as they pocketed £6.83million in total, according to Claret & Hugh.

The reliable Hammers journalists, taking to their online website (15 December) shared that Thursday’s 2-0 win over Freiburg (14 December) boosted the club’s bank balance to nearly £7 million after they finished the early stages top of Group A.

It is reported the group stage qualification bonus totalled almost £3m while West Ham’s appearance in the last 16 means over £1.5 million has been added to the earnings.

West Ham also sold 146,061 tickets for Europa League group home games at the London Stadium worth around £3m of ticket revenue, as reported by Claret & Hugh (15 December).

Boost

Say what you want about David Moyes and his so-called “dinosaur” tactics at the club in recent seasons but the heights he has taken West Ham United to especially in Europe, must not be discounted.

In fact, as reported above, the Hammers’ exploits have certainly now given their finances a much-needed boost, especially after their expensive exploits in the summer transfer window.

West Ham

The Hammers have become masters in European competition under his management, with Thursday’s night over Freiburg their 20th win in their last 21 or so games under Moyes but also their 10th successive home win.

The club’s tremendous progress in the competition can only be a good thing in the long haul generating more attraction and interest from fans around the world but also boosting their ticket revenue which has been shown already this season.

Moyes and his team should certainly be counted as one of the favourites for this season’s competition given their exploits in the Conference League last season and the further they go in the competition, the more money they could bank as Claret & Hugh point out.

To bank as much as nearly £7million so far is brilliant news.
