West Ham United transfer news as scouts watch Anton Stach in Bundesliga

West Ham United are one of several Premier League clubs keeping a watchful eye over Mainz 05 maestro Anton Stach, according to 90min.

The Hammers alongside, Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle United have all sent scouts to watch Stach play in the Bundesliga in 2023.

The report claims that the “versatile” German international, who has been capped twice by his country has played an integral part for Mainz this season.

“Several Premier League clubs have been keeping a watchful eye over Mainz midfielder Anton Stach recently, sources have told 90min,” as quoted by 90min. (24 February)

“Mainz are currently mid-table in the Bundesliga, some way off the European spots but not in any real danger of being dragged into a relegation battle.

“At the heart of their efforts this season has been versatile midfielder Stach, who is primarily a number six but is capable of playing as an eight or a ten.

“90min understands that scouts from Liverpool, Newcastle, Tottenham and West Ham have all watched Stach in 2023.”

Menacing.

Standing at a staggering 6ft4′ Stach certainly has the physical attributes to become a top Premier League midfielder in the near future, hopefully for West Ham United.

Stach has done the rounds in the German lower leagues, turning out for Osnabrück, Jeddeloh and Wolfsburg’s reserves as well as Greuther Fürth.

The German is great at doing the dirty work of the team and could be viewed as a potential long-term replacement for Declan Rice, should he leave the London Stadium.

His play is similar to that of German World Cup winner and defensive midfield great Sami Khedira and it’s no surprise that he is being linked with numerous Premier League teams.

The 24-year-old maestro hails from a family of sporting prowess too, with both the midfielder’s sisters playing basketball professionally.

The report above doesn’t make it fully clear what Mainz would be wanting for one of their prized assets, however, it’s unlikely a Bundesliga talent would cost an extortionate amount of cash.
