West Ham United: Sam Allardyce shares new David Moyes rant live on talkSPORT
Sam Allardyce has spoken up in support of West Ham boss David Moyes following the 4-2 win against Brentford amid the pressure on his job at the London Stadium.
The former Hammers manager insisted that every boss comes under pressure at West Ham, but said Moyes, alongside David Sullivan, has done excellently in building this current squad.
Allardyce then continued by suggesting that their progress both in the Premier League and in Europe is difficult to get used to and can lead to frustrating results, but overall he has been impressed.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [27 February, 08:12], Allardyce explained: “Who, as a manager, has not had the fans on their back at West Ham? Can you tell me one? No, there you go.
“It’s a phase you go through if you’re on a bad run like West Ham were. The squad at West Ham at this moment in time was built slowly and surely, and brilliantly, by David Sullivan and David Moyes.
“They compete in Europe, this is the third season on the trot, and they’re still in Europe. They won the cup last year. That is a big ask for a squad like West Ham have got, playing in Europe and then in the Premier League.
“They’re eighth in the league and still in the Europa League. This talk about negative football is not there, because David has to change his style because he will not like conceding goals.”
Sam Allardyce speaks out amid David Moyes sack pressure at West Ham
Moyes has faced criticism for his style of play this season, something Allardyce will be no stranger to as he has faced similar pressure at multiple jobs including with the Hammers and at Everton.
The fans’ frustration has been born more out of frustration with the manager than results, but the 4-2 victory against Brentford was the first time Moyes’ team managed to secure all three points in 2024.
Fans went as far as to hold up a “Moyes Out” banner in the away end as they lost 2-0 to Nottingham Forest – something Chris Sutton branded as “shameful” as he also hit out at the criticism Moyes has faced of late.

It was previously suggested that Moyes would be given a run of what looked on paper like easier games to turn his fortunes around, and the boss will be hoping that, after beating Brentford, they hit a vein of form.
