West Ham United: Said Benrahma debut for Lyon delayed due to yet another London Stadium issue

Said Benrahma still cannot make his debut for temporary club Lyon following his loan transfer from West Ham United.

That is according to FootMercato, with the publication reporting on its website that the winger is suspended for the club’s match with Lille on Wednesday (6 February).

FootMercato explained that Benrahma is unavailable after picking up a red card for the Hammers against Bristol City last month.

Benrahma paying for West Ham mistake

Benrahma was undoubtedly chastised by manager David Moyes for his red card against Bristol City, with the winger sent off during the FA Cup third round replay all the way back on 16 January.

The Algerian was sent for an early bath after kicking out at Bristol City’s Joe Williams early in the second half, with his team losing 1-0 at that stage.

The Premier League club then struggled to find the deadlock, with Benrahma’s red card undoubtedly a major reason behind their failures.

It led to an embarrassing early FA Cup exit for Moyes and his men, and Benrahma is still paying for his stupidity despite now being at a new club.

The forward completed a loan switch to Lyon in the January transfer window, although it seemed that the move was not happening for quite some time despite an agreement in place.

The transfer finally went through, but his debut will have to wait, with the Algerian forced to instead watch on from afar when Lyon take on Lille in French Cup round of 16 action.
