West Ham United: Ruben Amorim to discuss future after London talks

Rubin Amorim has returned to Portugal after holding talks with the West Ham board in London with the club identifying him as their top target to replace David Moyes, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The journalist shared via his X account on 23 April that the Sporting CP boss will now discuss his next steps with his agent following the meeting after West Ham’s project was presented, though no decisions have yet been made.

Having previously been tipped as the top target to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, Romano also shared that discussions with the Reds are on stand-by as things stand.

Ruben Amorim discussions continue at West Ham

Amorim emerged as a surprise option to take over from Moyes at the London Stadium, having been heavily linked with a move to Anfield while the Hammers were linked to the likes of Julen Lopetegui and Gary O’Neil.

However, after a meeting with the board in London, it now seems a real possibility that the Portuguese boss could be the chosen figure to replace Moyes should all parties decide it is time for him to move on when his contract runs out.

With pressure continuing to grow on the current boss after just one win in their last eight games, the board now appears to be exploring their options and looking to tempt Amorim into making the switch this summer.

Having initially been seen as an ambitious option, with no indication as to whether he would take the job, discussions with his agent following the meeting in London where the project was laid out could push the needle in West Ham’s favour.
