West Ham United remain first choice for Jesse Lingard despite PL interest

West Ham United remain Jesse Lingard’s first choice despite interest from Everton and Newcastle, according to talkSPORT.

The Mirror reported on 1 July that Everton were plotting a move for the former Manchester United man with Newcastle also thought to have made an offer.

However, talkSPORT has reported via their Twitter account that a move to the London Stadium remains the 29-year-old’s preference, although his wage demands still remain an issue.

Let him go elsewhere

It’s getting to a point with Lingard where the club just need to walk away from any potential deal with the free agent.

If Lingard really wanted to play for the Hammers he would accept the wages that the club place on the table for him.

West Ham fans will hardly be happy with the 29-year-old should he seal a move to the London Stadium knowing that he has tried to squeeze every last penny out of the club this summer.

Lingard needs to take a long look at himself and realise that he has done nothing over the past year that merits him being paid £150,000 a week.

West Ham should play the long game with Lingard because no one will pay him that kind of money.

If they wait long enough the 29-year-old will realise he has got no other options and will be forced to take reduced terms.

However, the Irons shouldn’t become fixated on the attacker and let Lingard distract them from their other transfer targets.

Lingard is not the be-all and end-all.
