West Ham United are readying a £42million bid for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, according to Claret and Hugh.

The publication reported on its website on Tuesday (25 July) that the Hammers could make the improved bid in the next few days.

The East London club’s opening bid of £37million plus £3million in add ons was rejected by Chelsea, Claret and Hugh noted.

Wanted man

Chelsea ace Gallagher is clearly a wanted man, but the Hammers look certain to find it difficult to bring the midfielder to the London Stadium this summer.

Clubs are perhaps fully aware of West Ham’s situation, whereby the club have money to spend after Declan Rice’s mega money move to Arsenal.

The England international has joined the Gunners for £105million, with plenty of that money now available to his old club to spend on a replacement.

Moreover, the Hammers are perhaps desperate to land a new midfielder, meaning Chelsea can afford to push David Moyes and his staff to the limit regarding their pursuit of Gallagher.

Rice has left a massive hole in the club’s midfield, and while he will be impossible to replace in terms of what he brought to the team both on and off the pitch, the Hammers could do a lot worse than his England teammate Gallagher.
