West Ham United ready to sell two attacking midfielders very soon

West Ham United are now prepared to sell two of their senior players in the coming days, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Algerian international Said Benrahma and last summer’s marquee signing Nikola Vlasic are the duo on the chopping block at the London Stadium as David Moyes hopes to make an addition in their position.

Both players generally play on the left wing for the Irons although would be more comfortable as a number 10 where Manuel Lanzini and Pablo Fornals operate.

Benrahma came off the bench as West Ham were soundly beaten 2-0 at home to reigning champions Manchester City thanks to an Erling Haaland brace in what could be his last game for the club.

“West Ham are prepared to sell both Saïd Benrahma and Nikola Vlasić in the next days,” Romano said via his personal Twitter account.

Off you go

Even though Benrahma, in particular, has enjoyed some stunning performances for the Hammers, for the club to achieve its goals over the next couple of seasons they need to find better than him.

The Algerian will always be a decent Premier League player who can stand out on his day but it comes around so irregularly that he can’t be trusted to perform consistently.

That is now what Moyes is looking for with a second successive European campaign to contend with and a potential push for the top four on the horizon as well.

Judging by the performance against Pep Guardiola’s City though, a lot of work needs to be done both in training and in the transfer market and this would be a good place to start.

With Vlasic and Benrahma gone, for decent money, West Ham would then have the financial clout available to them to go and buy a real game-changer for Moyes who can turn games around single-handedly, like Haaland did on Sunday.
