West Ham United ready to offer better wage package to sign Filip Kostic

West Ham United have already made an opening bid to sign Filip Kostic, as reported by Claret and Hugh.

The reliable Hammers source wrote on 27 July on their website that the Hammers have “made their first official bid” to sign the wing-back, worth around £12m.

While Frankfurt are holding out for a fee close to £18m, both the clubs are hopeful to reach an agreement of around £15m, as the negotiations continue.

Kostic is the next big target for the Hammers and the club are willing to increase his wages and offer him a deal worth closer to £65,000 per week.

Get it done

Bolstering the left-back area is vital for David Moyes, and they must get the deal done.

In the past, the Hammers have missed out on their targets after refusing to meet an extra £3-4m. In this case, they must reach common ground, and get it sorted.

Aaron Cresswell did well at times last season, however, he also made some glaring errors at the back, especially in big Europa League games.

Kostic will not only provide competition for Cresswell but he will add depth and quality to that department.

His potential arrival could leave Arthur Masuaku’s future in grave danger. He played a bit-part role last season, while his defensive abilities have been criticised time and again.

This has been a massive summer transfer window for the Hammers, with Moyes bringing in four quality players thus far. He now needs to add a solid full-back, a creative central midfielder and possibly another attacking midfielder.
