West Ham United ready to ‘listen to offers’ for Maxwel Cornet in January, he is ‘wasting his time’ at London Stadium
West Ham United are willing to listen to offers for Maxwel Cornet in the January window, according to Dean Jones.
The former Eurosport journalist, speaking to GiveMeSport (31 December), believes that the big-money £17.5million player’s (Sky Sports) situation is becoming “extremely frustrating” and he is “wasting his time” at the London Stadium.
The Ivorian international has never really gotten his career in East London going since his move in 2022, going on to make 28 West Ham appearances with no goals and six assists [Transfermarkt].

And Jones believes West Ham United will not stand in his way if the right offer should arrive.
He said: “They are definitely two of the players that West Ham are looking to listen to offers for in the January market, and it wouldn’t really influence their current set-up.
“I’m not sure what’s going on there with Cornet. He has been wasting his time at West Ham, and it’s probably extremely frustrating for him. West Ham would not stand in his way at all if an offer was to come in.
“Kehrer has a little bit of interest from abroad already, so I think West Ham will be very open to listening to any potential clubs that will take him away.”
Got to go
It’s abundantly clear how little David Moyes views Cornet in his current squad.
The Hammers have desperately needed an out-an-out left winger to balance their play with Jarrod Bowen on the right flank, but Moyes seems to prefer Lucas Paqueta at left wing, with Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals also filling in at times when Cornet is arguably the out-an-out option they’ve required.

West Ham United certainly have priority positions which need addressing in January but in order to do that, they need to sell players and it won’t be long before Moyes has chairman David Sullivan on the phone asking to seal a healthy financial cash boost on the rarely-seen attacker.
Turkish newspaper Takvim reported online (11 December) that Fenerbache are looking for reinforcements at centre-back and on the wings in the transfer window, and that Cornet’s representatives had been in talks.
Given the kind of money Turkish giants throw at players these days, that may well become the best route for all parties involved in January.
It’s a shame how bad things have gotten for Cornet under Moyes’ management and his earlier injury issues and long-term absence certainly played its part. It’s desperately clear the player needs a career refresh.
In other West Ham United news, the club has made a “100%” Moyes sack decision, with David Sullivan set to schedule a sit-down early next year.
