West Ham United ready to enquire about AC Milan striker Divock Origi amid Premier League interest

West Ham United are one of several Premier League teams interested in Divock Origi with the AC Milan striker open on returning to England if the right offer arrives, according to Calciomercato.

The former Liverpool forward has failed to hit the ground running with the Italian giants since sealing his move last summer, scoring just two goals from his 20 appearances.

This poor form has resulted in Origi falling beneath both Olivier Giroud and 41-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the pecking order at the San Siro Stadium.

Calciomercato reported that AC Milan beware of West Ham, Leeds United, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace in regards to the 27-year-old’s services, with all four clubs “ready to knock on the Devil’s door” and ask for information on a deal.

Origi also has interest from Turkey but would welcome a return to English football – where he previously spent eight years with Liverpool – if the right offer arrived.

More of the same?

Although Origi had his fair share of iconic moments during his time at Liverpool, he never managed to stamp down a position in the starting line-up and, whenever he was given a chance, never quite managed to take it.

Is the Belgian really any better than Danny Ings?

The £15million January recruit is a clinical Premier League forward, and it is hard to think of an area of his game which is weaker than Origi’s.

Considering Milan would probably want a decent fee for Origi’s services, and the striker would want a pretty hefty wage package, this deal doesn’t make sense on numerous levels.

If Gianluca Scamacca does leave the club in the summer, it would be better to invest in a younger striker who could add a different dimension to David Moyes’ side.

This feels very much like a rinse and repeat of Ings, and the club should steer clear of this move.
