West Ham United ready brand new striker transfer already after Niclas Fullkrug news
West Ham are eyeing a move for a new striker already after doubts within the club over the fitness of Niclas Fullkrug, according to talkSPORT.
The online outlet reported [22 October] that the Hammers are looking for a striker ahead of the upcoming transfer window, with the hierarchy set to put their hands in their pocket in January.
Questions have been raised regarding Tim Steidten’s decision to sign Fullkrug, and Fotis Ioannidis, who was on the Irons’ shortlist in the summer, could be on his way to East London in the coming weeks.
Will West Ham replace Niclas Fullkrug with Fotis Ioannidis?
West Ham spent a considerable sum on Fullkrug, buying him for £27 million from Borussia Dortmund [talkSPORT, 22 October].
Unfortunately, the 31-year-old has failed to make a mark for the Hammers so far and has been out injured with an Achilles issue.
The Germany international had a decent season at the Signal Iduna Park in the previous campaign, but it was the striker’s performances at Euro 2024 that grabbed a lot of attention.

Therefore, the London Stadium faithful had all the right to be excited about Fullkrug; however, it looks like the club shouldn’t have overlooked the forward’s fitness struggles.
As a result, Michail Antonio, who is arguably in the final stretch of his career, has been relied upon by Lopetegui.
However, the news of the Irons looking at Ioannidis is encouraging, with the Greek national a regular at Panathinaikos.
While the 24-year-old’s numbers in Greece are nothing to be serenaded about, he would add much-needed depth to our attacking line.
In other West Ham news, Julen Lopetegui is on thin ice after a new nail in the coffin.
