West Ham United ready ‘bombshell’ bid to sign Leon Goretzka as £43.7m+ Bayern Munich transfer news emerges

West Ham are readying an offer to sign Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka next summer, according to Fichajes.

The Spanish news outlet reported on 15 November that Goretzka, 28, is a target for multiple Premier League clubs, leading to a potential “bombshell” transfer in the Bundesliga next year.

It is understood that West Ham are willing to pay over £43.7million for the Germany international next year with Bayern already scoping out replacements for him.

Tim Steidten in control

Next summer could be a very big one in East London because there have been persistent rumours about David Moyes leaving the club.

The Scot’s contract expires at the end of the season and there’s been a bit of tension, seemingly, behind the scenes involving him and new technical director Tim Steidten.

The German transfer expert did play a role in the summer, whether Moyes liked it or not, and it looks like Goretzka could be a target for him based on his links to the Bundesliga.

However, we’re not buying this report.

Goretzka’s contract expires next year so there’s no way West Ham would be considering offering so much money for the Bayern Munich ace when they’ll hold a lot of the power in any transfer negotiations.

It’s way too soon for clubs to be lining up offers for the summer.

If this story was about the January transfer window, we’d find it more believable.

Goretzka is a great player having made almost 200 appearances for Bayern Munich since joining them from Schalke in 2018 and also winning 55 caps for Germany.

He’s be a major upgrade on some of the players we have but at this point, we doubt that such a big transfer will be sanctioned by either the Irons or Bayern midway through a campaign.

In other West Ham news, Anton Ferdinand is raging at a “demoralising” situation for this Hammers star.
