West Ham United reach full agreement for new manager as Julen Lopetegui update drops
West Ham United have reached a full agreement with Julen Lopetegui to replace David Moyes, according to Sky Sports News.
The broadcaster reported on Monday (20 May) that the former Real Madrid boss has reached a complete agreement with the Hammers and will take over the reins ahead of next season in East London.
Although no official announcement has emerged from the London Stadium, Lopetegui is expected to be confirmed as Moyes’ successor by the Irons in the next week after the agreement had been reached.
When will West Ham United announce Julen Lopetegui as their new manager?
This could be one of the worst-kept secrets in the footballing world currently as it has been common knowledge for a while now that Lopetegui would be the man to replace Moyes even before it was confirmed he would be leaving.
There have been suggestions that the Hammers have already begun transfer discussions with the former Wolves boss ahead of the summer window, with plans being put in place for Lopetegui to put his own stamp on the squad.
Whether or not the Spaniard’s appointment will please the majority of supporters remains to be seen, especially as Lopetegui doesn’t appear to represent a shift to attacking football that most fans were pining for.
Hopefully, an official announcement will emerge sooner rather than later to ensure that the Irons can begin getting ready ahead of the transfer window. There could be plenty of changes at the London Stadium in the next weeks.
It would be a major shock if something changed in this deal in the final stages of the process, but stranger things have happened at West Ham in the last few years.
