West Ham United priced out of signing Lorient striker Terem Moffi

West Ham are heavily linked with a move for Lorient striker Terem Moffi but they are reportedly facing problems to bring him to the London Stadium this month.

According to a report from The Daily Mail (13 January, page 72), a deal for Moffi could be “beyond their budget”.

The Daily Express journalist, Ryan Taylor said on his Youtube channel (11 January; 21.11) that the French club are also willing to do business this month, and they have started negotiations with the Hammers for Moffi.

Perspective

The Hammers spent heavily in the summer and David Moyes also made it clear that he won’t buy players in January unless there is a genuine need for them.

With the club closer to the relegation zone, and the big-money summer signings yet to flourish, Moyes once again is looking for help in the transfer market.

Taylor said on his YouTube channel that Lorient are looking at £20-25m for the striker, whereas the Premier League clubs are willing to pay around £15m.

West Ham

There is a huge gap at the moment, and the West Ham board probably won’t risk big-money transfers once again, considering how poor the results have been.

To make the matter worse, Michail Antonio has been linked this week with a move to Wolves.

Moyes would be reluctant to sell the senior player as he needs more options in the squad. At the moment, it looks like Moffi is out of their budget, and the club should look for options elsewhere.
