West Ham United pressured agent into new manager talks with David Moyes set to go

West Ham pressured Ruben Amorim’s agent into arranging talks over the possibility of replacing David Moyes at the end of the season, according to A Bola.

The Hammers boss looks likely to depart in the summer, though no formal decision is expected to be announced until the conclusion of the campaign.

The report in the publication’s online edition [25 April] details that Amorim flew to London for talks before returning to Lisbon, with no deal agreed between the 39-year-old and the Premier League side.

Ruben Amorim appears to be distancing himself from West Ham United

Amorim’s discussions with West Ham appear to have generated a great deal of media speculation not just in England, but also in his native Portugal.

The timing could perhaps have been better, with Sporting set to take on rivals Porto in a crunch league clash at the Estadio do Dragao on 28 April.

Upon his return from London, the 39-year-old has perhaps had to deal with a number of uncomfortable queries regarding his intentions at the end of this season and the nature of his talks with the Hammers.

Ruben Amorim
It doesn’t look like Ruben Amorim will be David Moyes’ successor at West Ham United.

That a report has surfaced suggesting the Irons had pressured Amorim’s agent into arranging a meet-up is more than likely a form of damage control – but it also hints at a distancing act from the manager’s camp.

With Amorim looking an increasingly unlikely candidate, the Hammers must now turn their attention to alternative targets, with Julen Lopetegui, Paulo Fonseca and Graham Potter all among the names mentioned – assuming Moyes does indeed confirm his departure at the end of the campaign.
