West Ham United postpone contract talks with Tomas Soucek and Jarrod Bowen - ExWHUemployee

West Ham have postponed contract talks with Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek until after the summer window closes, according to ExWHUemployee.

The Hammers are looking to bolster their squad during the transfer window but are also keen to tie down their top stars to new deals to see off interest from other clubs.

But after ongoing negotiations for a short while, the club have decided to postpone talks with Bowen and Soucek until after the window, according to a fresh update by Ex on his official Patreon account [June 1].

Talks with both parties had not progressed since opening and the club have now made the decision to put talks on the back-burner with Soucek having two years remaining on his deal and Bowen having another three.

The club however still have no intention of letting the recent first-team England squad member leave the club this summer, but they could be open to listening to offers for the Czech Republic midfielder depending on incomings and potential offers from elsewhere.

Talks with the club were obviously not going so well and with sufficient time on both of their deals beyond this summer, there is no need to rush.

But it does raise the question of how far apart the two parties are in negotiations that a break in talks is necessary at this stage, considering the off-season is the perfect time to deal with such matters.

Soucek’s future has been in the air for some time and it seems as though he is edging closer to the exit door with this news, as his transfer value only diminishes the longer he goes without signing fresh terms.

As for Bowen, there isn’t any rush. He has three years remaining on his contract, is a key man and has shown no signs of wanting to leave.

It would take a massive offer to even consider them allowing him to leave at this point and there’s no need to panic if terms aren’t agreed this summer, so ensuring that the squad is strengthened to help convince him to stay makes sense.
