West Ham United: Piers Morgan sends Declan Rice plea to join Arsenal on TalkSport

Piers Morgan has revealed on TalkSport (17 January) that he has pleaded with Declan Rice to make a move to Arsenal from West Ham United.

The Guardian reported on 16 January that Rice is the top summer target of Arsenal and Mikel Arteta, something to add fuel to the fire of Morgan’s wishes.

Morgan confessed that he has had a conversation with Rice on Twitter where he has “begged” the maestro to join his beloved Gunners.

“I love Declan Rice. I’ve had this conversation with him on Twitter where I’ve begged him to come before. I think he’s exactly what we need,” said Morgan on talkSPORT Breakfast. (17 January)

“Rice can do everything and he’s got that right mentality, the right attitude, I think he’s very much an Arteta-style player and I think he would fit absolutely perfectly into our squad.

“So Declan, come on, I know you’re listening, Declan – come, come to the Emirates. Come and be loved.”

Story of the summer.

The transfer saga involving Rice is set to be the transfer saga of the summer and where he ends up is still very much up for debate.

One thing is pretty certain, he won’t be a West Ham United player following this season’s end, especially if the club get relegated.

A switch to Arsenal makes a lot of sense and it’s a move where Rice would be guaranteed playing time for a classy young outfit that could win the Premier League this season.

Adding Rice to that mix is a scary thought and it’s something that Arteta is obviously considering once this campaign comes to a close.

Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City will all likely be trying in a tug-of-war effort for Rice’s signature too, so this will allow the Hammers to start an auction for his talents.

With Mudryk joining Chelsea for £100m, the Irons can charge pretty much what they want for Rice, the transfer market has never been crazier.
