West Ham United open talks for Rangers defender Calvin Bassey, would take 'obscene' money - report
West Ham United have opened talks to sign Rangers defender Calvin Bassey this summer, according to The Fourth Official and ExWHUemployee.
Working together on Patreon, it was reported that Bassey has a contract until 2024, so it would take an “obscene” amount of money to even tempt the Scottish side.
The Irons are said to have amped up their interest after Rangers were beaten on penalties by Eintracht Frankfurt in the final of the Europa League this week.
Writing on The Fourth Official Patreon page, with the help of ExWHUemployee, it was shared that talks have begun after long-term interest.
“I have been told by several reliable sources that several Premier League clubs including West Ham United are interested in the services of Calvin Bassey,” they wrote.
“The defender is under contract until 2024 so it is going to take an obscene amount of money to tempt Rangers.

“The player caught the eye of the world with his performances but the interest from West Ham United in the left back turned centre half was there from before the Europa League final.
“Apparently, the interest has been amped up since the final with West Ham starting talks with Rangers for the defender.”
Perfect.
This would be the perfect signing for the Irons.
We all saw how good Bassey looked against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday evening, with his pace and power simply unbelievable for a defender.
The main plus point is the versatility he has.
Bassey can play at left-back, but has filled in centrally immensely this season and has made that more of his number one position at Ibrox.
That helps David Moyes massively, as he needs strong left-back cover and options for the heart of his defence after numerous injury worries this season.
Issa Diop could move on, and Angelo Ogbonna may not be the same after his serious injury, so bringing someone in who can also offer better competition for Aaron Cresswell, it is a no brainer.
The Hammers need a strong summer window after failures in recent times, and starting off by bringing in Bassey would Rangers would be perfect.
