West Ham United open contract discussions with Terem Moffi after £25m bid tabled
West Ham United have entered contract talks with Lorient striker Terem Moffi as they look to beat Ligue 1 side Nice to the Nigerian international, according to the Sun’s Alan Nixon.
Nixon has reported (via his personal Patreon, 18 January) the Hammers are confident their £25million bid will be accepted by the Ligue 1 side.
It’s understood discussions are ongoing with Moffi’s representatives and that the Premier League side will be able to offer far superior terms than Nice.

However, Nixon has suggested the 23-year-old may not be willing to take a pay cut should the Hammers be relegated to the Championship.
Interesting
Considering the Hammers strengthened their forward options in the summer, it’s surprising to see the Irons pursue another striker. However, this could well have dropped a clue on Michail Antonio’s future at the club. Nixon has previously reported (Patreon, 16 January) that Wolves are willing to spend £10million on the Jamaican international.
A January move does feel unlikely considering both teams’ league positions but there’s now a chance Antonio could depart in the summer if the Hammers land Moffi. The 23-year-old would provide Moyes’ strike force with added pace and power and he could be viewed as a long-term replacement for Antonio.

If they do sign Moffi it would be a big show of support to Moyes with the Scot currently under considerable pressure at the London Stadium. This weekend’s fixture against Everton feels like a make or break for the West Ham boss, with the Toffees also languishing near the foot of the table.
