West Ham United ‘now likely’ to sack David Moyes regardless of achievements this season
West Ham United are planning to sack David Moyes regardless of what he achieves with the club this season, according to journalist Dean Jones.
Moyes once again eased calls for his sacking with a scrappy if unspectacular 1-0 win against Fulham on Saturday (8 April) that took the Hammers up to 14th in the Premier League table and three points clear of the relegation places.
TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook [11 April] predicted David Moyes and David Sullivan will shake hands and go their separate ways in the summer regardless of the club’s Premier League status.

And speaking to GiveMeSport [11 April], former Eurosport journalist Jones hinted the West Ham hierarchy are planning to replace Moyes at the end of the season, irrespective of how the rest of the campaign pans out.
He said: “The messages that I’ve been hearing are that Moyes is very likely to be replaced at the end of the season no matter what. I think keeping them up is the least he should be doing really with that squad anyway.
“So I don’t look at that as a major sense of achievement to keep West Ham in the Premier League.”
Time to move on
It’s totally inconceivable, especially for the Hammers fans to have predicted that their club would be in this position right now, given they spent £165m last summer [The Athletic, 1 September].
The East Londoners have been dreadful this season, which is made all the more disappointing considering the amount of quality they possess. However, no team, no matter their quality is immune from enduring a tough season in the Premier League, and the Irons have certainly suffered from complacency and a lack of tactical nous to build on from last season’s relative success.

Much of that must be put on the manager as much as the players and it is certainly Moyes who will get the brunt of the blame after his side’s dreadful inconsistencies this season.
No doubt, the former Everton and Manchester United boss has transformed West Ham since his return in 2019 and he has taken the club as far as he can go right now the Irons are in need of fresh and progressive leadership, and given the names currently available in Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter, Sullivan will be tempted to part ways as soon as the season ends.
However, West Ham United will not be able to acquire such attractive names if they fail to secure their Premier League status this season. Their English top-flight status remains of pivotal importance if they are to make the required improvements this summer.
