West Ham United next manager: Julen Lopetegui priority emerges amid AC Milan twist
Julen Lopetegui wants to close a deal to join AC Milan over West Ham United as a priority, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
Writing in their print edition (25 April, page 6), the Italian news outlet report that the Spanish coach is a serious option for the Hammers to replace David Moyes as manager at the end of the season.
But the ex-Wolves and Real Madrid boss would prefer a move to Serie A with Milan, who are set to sack Stefano Pioli, and sees it as a “priority” to get a deal done with the seven-time Champions League winners.
West Ham United set for another managerial setback?
It’s been an interesting week for West Ham fans and the seemingly inevitable departure of David Moyes, because the managerial merry-go-round is well and truly in full swing.
The expectation is that Moyes will “definitely” be leaving this summer, although a final decision isn’t expected to be made until the end of the season, but the club have stepped their search up for replacements.
They have seemingly been taken for a ride by Ruben Amorim after “controversial” talks were held on Monday, while the club are also in talks with Marco Silva and Paulo Fonseca too.

But the links to Lopetegui aren’t going away either, although they have been denied by some, but that could be because his priority is a move to another club.
In an ideal world the club will know who they want and be moving in that direction, but there is a long way to go before this is resolved. As it stands though, it would seemingly be a surprise for Lopetegui to be a Hammer next season.
In other West Ham news, the club have scouted this “goal God” more than once ahead of a potential summer transfer.
