Paul Brown shares verdict on David Moyes future at West Ham United

Paul Brown believes David Moyes will remain West Ham manager “for a while yet” amid the ongoing speculation over the Scotsman’s future.

Moyes, who guided United to Europa Conference League success in June, is due to be out of contract at London Stadium at the end of the season.

The fanbase is largely split on whether the 60-year-old should stay on, but journalist Brown does not believe he is going anywhere.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Brown said: “They’ve had the odd bad result this season. But I still see a team that is improving rather than going backwards.

“I think there will always be a section of the West Ham fanbase that just doesn’t like this manager and doesn’t think his philosophy or style of play matches what they like to see.

“But I think it’s very hard to criticise the job he’s been doing because he’s had a huge amount of success there at West Ham and personally I think he’ll be there for a while yet.”

Least he deserves

It can feel a lot like groundhog day as far as West Ham are concerned right now, because pretty much all the talk is dominated by Moyes’ future.

Does he deserve a new contract? Is there a better option out there than him? Can he do better than West Ham?

The problem is, these questions will continue to be asked right up until the end of the campaign when a decision is made one way or the other.

What cannot be questioned is that the club stuck by Moyes during a sticky patch earlier in the campaign, as that is the least he deserves.

However, just because he won the Conference League last season, it does not mean he necessarily deserves to be given a contract extension.

West Ham are in a position in which they can attract a much higher calibre of manager, although Manuel Pellegrini’s appointment is not exactly a great endorsement for that approach.

Given it is a results industry, all Moyes can do for now is continue winning games and see what happens. After all, with a domestic cup still up for grabs, the Scotsman could leave the board with no choice but to award him a new deal.

In other Everton news, Moyes must hurry up to find a solution to a “significant problem” at London Stadium.
