West Ham United: Sky Sports reporter shares ‘Very Big’ update in David Moyes replacement search
West Ham will target a “very big” name should David Moyes depart, according to Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge.
Moyes is deliberating over whether to sign a new contract he was recently awarded, with his current terms set to expire in the summer.
The Scotsman could yet lead the Irons to successive trophies in Europe, but plenty of the fanbase would be happy to see him depart.
Sharing an update on Moyes’ situation at London Stadium, Bridge told Give Me Sport [25 March]: “You’re always going to have fans who just aren’t having him.
“I’ve got a couple of West Ham fans that I know that aren’t having him. I’ve always given it the, how can you not like this? But then they’re the ones paying the money, I’m not paying the money.
“If it was to be the end of David Moyes, a couple of people I know at West Ham kind of give me the impression that it’s not going to be another good young English coach.
“They’d probably target a very big name, because I think there are going to be some big names available. And people say, well, would they go to West Ham? Well, let’s wait and see. I think West Ham would look big if Moyes was to move on.”
Who will replace David Moyes as West Ham manager?
Forget the Moyes in, Moyes out debate for now. In a hypothetical scenario in which he has already announced his departure, what type of manager does the club move for?
Bringing in a steady pair of hands, much in the mould of Moyes, is very much out of the question. Instead, supporters will either want a big name or an up-and-comer.
One man who appears to tick both boxes is Reims manager – and West Ham fan – Will Still, who has previously suggested he would like to one day manage the club.

Then you have the likes of Graham Potter, Michael Carrick and Paulo Fonseca, who each have different strengths and weaknesses.
If it is to be a “big name”, then that leaves someone like Thomas Tuchel or, say it quietly, a certain Jose Mourinho among those on the long list of possible candidates.
For now, though, Moyes is still in the dugout and may well be staying on for at least another season. Once he does announce his intention to leave, that is when the fun and games really begin.
In other West Ham news, Darren Bent believes a United regular will definitely be on his way out of the club this summer.
