David Moyes contract latest shared after West Ham United loss to Manchester United

West Ham have no intention of backtracking on offering David Moyes a new contract, according to Sean Whetstone.

The West Ham news source shared the update via his Twitter page on Sunday (4 February) on the back of the 3-0 loss at Manchester United.

United are winless in six matches in 2024 and there has yet to be official confirmation of Moyes extending his stay beyond this season.

Whetstone said: “Nothing has changed since December when I said David Moyes is 100% certain to sign a new contract and nothing has changed since January when his brother Kenny confirmed his brother wants to stay.

“Truth is that, the board like the manager and the manager likes the board.”

Big call for West Ham to make on David Moyes

News of Moyes extending his stay beyond the summer, when his current terms are due to expire, came around the time that West Ham had just beaten Manchester United and Arsenal in quick succession.

Everything was rosy at that point, but United have since been dumped out of the FA Cup by second-tier side Bristol City, while collecting just three points from the last 10 on offer in the Premier League.

If the club was to confirm Moyes’ new deal on the back of the display at Old Trafford, there would be an uproar among a certain section of the fanbase.

It is looking extremely likely that the Scotsman is staying on, though, and it is more a matter of when, rather than if, the club make an announcement.

This has been a divisive issue for a while now, and the truth is this debate will rumble on after every single result while Moyes is at the helm.
