Richard Keys moots ‘unrest’ at West Ham United over David Moyes future, Andy Gray surprised

Richard Keys has suggested there may be “unrest” behind the scenes at West Ham due to the uncertainty over the future of manager David Moyes.

Moyes is out of contract at London Stadium at the end of the season and there has been no indication as to whether he will be staying on.

The Scotsman celebrates four years in charge during his second spell at the helm of the Hammers next week.

Speaking on beIN Sports’ live coverage prior to West Ham’s 2-0 win over Manchester United [23 December, 12:30pm], Keys said: “They seem to be happy to let the contract run down. That, for me, always causes unrest among the staff.”

Co-host Andy Gray added: “I cannot believe anyone at West Ham has an iota of a thought that they’d want to get rid of David Moyes.”

Mood keeps shifting

This topic of conversation will soon start becoming boring for West Ham fans – if it isn’t already.

It is hard to get a true gauge in terms of the entire fanbase, but let’s just say it is pretty split in terms of whether Moyes should stay or go.

Perhaps it depends when you poll the supporters, as nobody will be against Moyes on the back of a win like the one against Manchester United.

However, after being thumped by Liverpool in the EFL Cup quarter-finals a few days earlier, it would have been a different response.

Basically, the mood can change result by result, which will inevitably cause some unrest and confusion.

While the club still have five months until Moyes is out of contract, they will surely have to consider options soon if they do pull the plug on his tenure.

Whichever decision they make, it is only fair Moyes gets a great send-off if he does indeed depart, or is backed by supporters if he gets another year.

In other West Ham news, Simon Jordan mooted a “kiss of death” for Moyes after comments he made live on talkSPORT.
